Karadimos Estate is a family owned and run business through the last 2 generations. Since 1997, under the instruction of Dimitris(Jim) Karadimos co-owner and oenologist , we cultivate our grapes organically in order to express better our vineyards’ attributes and characters.
After many experiments we finally decide to cultivate the following indigenous Greek varieties in order to express their intrinsic qualities combined with our vineyards’ characters.
Our first new plantings took place in 1997. Assyrtico was our first choice due its powerfully complex character, depth and high refreshing acidity. We believe that it’s the noblest white grape variety of the whole Mediterranean basin. Assyrtico is planted in a steep chalky slope under a North-South orientation.
Accordingly, the same year we choose the terpenic and fruity Malagouzia for the sandy plateau just a step outside the wall of ancient Vissa, following the same orientation as in the case of Assyrtico.
It’s a common knowledge that the black Greek vine variety Xinomavro(black & sour) has similar organoleptic attributes like Nebbiolo.
Thus, in order to produce a powerful, complex fruity and botanical layered wine that can express its Mediterranean roots, we planted Xinomavro in 2000, in a sandy steep slope with North-South orientation.
Every berry that we use in our bottles is absolutely grown in family owned vineyards, because we believe that the quality of a wine begins foremost from the quality of the grape that used in the vinification process.
During vinification we try to combine the old and the new, traditional methods with contemporary scientific knowledge, as we believe that during winemaking, land and tradition make character and man makes quality.
Karadimos family produces high end handmade wines, for the icon and ultra premium market segment, from indigenous grapes varieties grown exclusively in family owned organically farmed vineyards.
Imagination and innovation on biodiversity tracks is our philosophy. This is translated to multiclone vine cultivation through a quality orientated prisma on individual vineyards, our own isolated yeast collection and the use of high percentage handmade winery equipment.
